Roughly 16% of people in the Bay Area experience the high-cost of life here in the Bay Area while struggling to make ends meet in the "low income" bracket. Established in 1990, Family Giving Tree has dedicated the last 32 years to advancing economic equity in the Bay Area as much as possible.

We like to say that Family Giving Tree is in the business of building bridges and bringing smiles. 

Well, for this year’s Holiday Wish Drive, we set a goal of delivering 40,000 smiles throughout our community. But that’s hard work, and we couldn’t do it alone. Fortunately, thanks to our sponsors, we don’t have to.

Our 2022 Holiday Wish Drive sponsors have stepped in and supported FGT financially in our journey to uplift our community this holiday season. So, we wanted to give a spotlight to them, and thank them for helping us deliver smiles. Read on to learn a bit about each.

Elcor Electric, Inc. has been a Holiday Wish Drive Sponsor for three years, doubling their support since they partnered with us in December 2020. In 2021, employee volunteers assisted FGT in assembling 500 Essential Health Kits containing face mask, hand sanitizer, toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss for distribution to gift recipients! They continue seeking out ways to provide volunteer engagement opportunities to employees.

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. first partnered with FGT as a Drive Leader for our Back-to-School Drive in 2006. They began participating as Drive Leader for Holiday Wish Drive in 2008 and have supported both drives ever since. Generously hosting Wrapping Parties and Backpack Builds since 2013, they have also further supported our work through monetary and in-kind giving as well as corporate matching of employee donations!

Wisk Aero LLC joined FGT as a Drive Leader for the 2019 and 2020 Holiday Wish Drives and became a first-time HWD Gold Level Sponsor in 2021 - repeating their support this year! Wisk also matches full and part-time employee donations, dollar-for-dollar, from $25 to $750.

Alphawave IP is a new neighbor in the local community that wants to actively engage in the area where they do business. They also encourage employee engagement with organizations that also do business in the area where they work and live. Alphawave IP became a first-time Holiday Wish Drive Silver Level Sponsor and Drive Leader in 2022! They also promote employee volunteerism at our holiday warehouse.

SC Builders began their partnership with FGT as Drive Leader for Holiday Wish Drive 2013 and have participated in this capacity ever since. They've generously supported FGT's work over 9 years through direct monetary donations and an employee workplace giving opportunity with corporate matching. This year they've generously added Holiday Wish Drive Sponsorship to the ways they support FGT's work.

NetApp partnered with FGT as a Wrapping Party host back in 2006. They then participated as Drive Leader for Holiday Wish Drive 2007 and began participating as Drive Leader for Back-to-School 2009 and have supported both drives in this capacity ever since. They have generously continued hosting Wrapping Parties and Backpack Builds over 16 years, adding sponsorship of both Holiday Wish and Back-to-School Drives in 2008! NetApp also matches full-time employee donations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $500, and employees volunteer regularly at our holiday and back-to-school warehouses.

Wondering what a wrapping party is? Companies also support the Holiday Wish Drive by hosting wrapping parties. During these events, companies pay for us to purchase a set amount of gifts, which we bring to their offices. Employees then volunteer their time to help FGT wrap the 200, 300, or even 400 gifts so that they can be prepared for distribution throughout the Bay Area. 

The world is finally bouncing back from the unprecedented times during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and more companies are offering employees the chance to adopt hybrid/in-person schedules. These wrapping parties are a great way for employees to ease back into the in-person environment, while offering them a way to do something fun that also brings good to the community around them.
