• How does JTC Americas celebrate the holidays?
The holiday season is an opportunity to reflect on our good fortune, come together as a group, and to help others less fortunate. We also enjoy participating in group activities as part of the JTC Festive Together campaign. This is a month-long series of events across all offices worldwide focused on charitable activities such as Ugly Sweater Day and Reverse Advent Calendars benefitting those in need.
• How long has JTC Americas participated in the Holiday Wish Drive?
Our team is also big on volunteering and we have helped inside the Family Giving Tree warehouse in the past. This year we chose to participate as an Empowering Partner, which we felt was important during these challenging times.
• What does JTC Americas hope to accomplish through its partnership with FGT?
Through our global employee-led educational charity initiative this year, it is our goal to maximize the potential and equip as many children in need with all the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) materials they need to be successful at school and in their personal growth. Education is incredibly important, especially here in Silicon Valley, were we have the greatest minds and tech companies.
• What are JTC Americas' broader philanthropic goals?
To continue with JTC’s Maximizing Potential ethos in supporting great organizations that really make a difference for families in their communities.
• What defines holiday joy for you?
Seeing that there are so many children in need in our area, especially during the holiday season, it would bring us so much joy to fulfill the STEAM wish list of students in need of a backpack or science kit.
• What was your best holiday gift memory?
As much as we’d like to all be together in person to volunteer like our pre-pandemic days, it’s just not possible, so we remember fondly the times when our team could be together and volunteer at a local soup kitchen to help with meal prep, help sort much-needed clothing and toy donations, and hosting food drives over the years.
• What’s your wish for the community in 2021?
To remove barriers to quality education.
• What does it look like to Empower, Uplift, and Unite our community?
JTC truly believes that we are all Stronger Together, so when our team recently held a virtual bingo fundraiser to raise additional funds for Family Giving Tree in addition to our initial donation, it was great to see our office united in this goal to give back more. It was our first big fundraiser event during this pandemic, so to be able to raise extra funds and see so many colleagues unite together to benefit the Family Giving Tree was quite empowering and a testimony to our commitment to maximize the potential of our local community, especially children.
